HomeMy WebLinkAboutord1983-0951 DATE October 20, 1983 INTRODUCED BY Roehl 2 PROPOSED BY County Sheriff 3 ORDINANCE NO. 83 -95 4 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NO- SHOOTING ZONE IN THE AREA OF WISER LAKE 5 6 WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the public safety to restrict 7 shooting in densely populated areas; and, 8 WHEREAS, the County Council has previously passed an emergency 9 ordinance establishing a no- shooting zone in the area of Wiser Lake 10 and, 11 WHEREAS, it is now necessary to pass a permanent ordinance in 12 regard to this matter; 13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL 14 that a new section be added to Chapter 9.32 of the Whatcom County 15 Code to be designated subsection 9.32.160: 16 CHAPTER 9.32 17 UNLAWFUL DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS AREA 18 9.32.160 In township 39 on and around Wiser Lake 19 A. It is unlawful to discharge firearms within the following 20 described area: 21 LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR FIREAMI ORDINANCE AT WISER LAKE 22 Commencing at the intersection of the West line of the East Half of the Southwest Quarter of the Northeast 23 Quarter of Section One, Township 39 North, Range 2E W.M., and the Northerly right -of -way line of West 24 Bartlett Road #498 and being the true point of beginning; thence North along said West line, extended, to the 25 Southerly right -of -way line of 'Vest Wiser Lake Road #52; thence Easterly along said Southerly right -of -way 26 line to Guide Meridian Road; thence continuing Easterly along the Southerly right -of -way line of East Wiser 27 Lake Road to its intersection with the north -south centerline of the Southeast Quarter of Section 31, 28 Township 40 North, Range 3 East of W.M.; thence Southerly along said centerline and continuing southerly along 29 the centerline of the Northeast Quarter of Section 6; Township 39 North, Range 3E W.M., to its intersection 30 with the Northerly right -of -way line of East Bartlett Road; thence Westerly along said Northerly line to the 31 point of beginning. This section shall not apply to nor prohibit the discharge of firearms in the slaughter of cattle, sheep or swine, or the humane dispatch of a diseased or injured animal. C. Violation of this section shall constitute a mis- demeanor and every person convicted of a violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred and fifty dollars. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, Council finds that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety or support of the County government. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage. PASSED this 17t.1 day of November , 1983.
