ORDINANCE No. 83-33
AN ORDINANCE IN THE MATTER OF ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS
ON POINT ROBERTS
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
establish speed limits on certain County Roads; and
WHEREAS, an Engineering Study was conducted by the County Engineer's office;
and
WHEREAS, a review was conducted by the County Sheriff's office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the speed limits previously established by
Resolutions 8-68-22, E -75 -9 and E- 78 -46, and that portion of Resolution E -67 -7,
pertaining to Point Roberts roadways, are amended as follows:
All roadways on Point Roberts shall have a maximum speed limit
of 25 M.P.H., except the following list of roadway sections shall
have a maximum speed limit of 30 M.P.H.:
1) Marine Drive, between Roosevelt Way and Gulf Road,
2) Tyee Drive, entire length,
3) Mill Road, between Johnson Road and Benson Road,
4) South Beach Road, between Benson Road and A.P.A. Road,
5) Boundary Bay Road, between A.P.A. Road and Johnson Road,
6) Roosevelt Way, between Marine Drive and Derby Avenue,
7) Johnson Road, entire length,
8) Benson Road, between Tyee Drive and Boundary Bay, and
9) A.P.A. Road, between Tyee Drive and Boundary Bay Road.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer be and is hereby directed to
post appropriate signs, and that the Whatccm County Sheriff and the Washington
State Ptrol be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
Whatcom County Code, Sections 10.04.030, 10.04.040, 10.04.050 and 10.04.060 are
hereby amended by the provisions of this ordinance.
