WHEREAS, the non - exempt represented employees in the Sheriff's department
12 received a 6$ oost -of- living adjustment for 1984; and
13_ WHEREAS, the exempt employees in the Sheriff's department received no
cost -of- living adjustment in the same period; and

WHEREAS, this creates a compression problem wherein a represented employee
could earn more than his /her manager; and
WHEREAS, the County classification and salary structure must continue to
,reward higher levels of responsibility; and
WHEREAS, a new classification matrix has been established for the Sheriffs
Department exempt employees;
NOW THEREFORE LET IT BE ORDAINED, that the 1984 Current Expense Fund,
Sheriff's Department Budget therein be revised as follows:
