Ordinance No. 84 -115
AN ORDINANCE REGARDING THE MATTER OF
PLACING STOP AND YIELD SIGNS ON
VARIOUS COUNTY ROADS
Consent
WHEREAS, IN COMPLIANCE WITH RCW 46.61.200 and RCW 47.36.110 found
necessary and expedient to place traffic control signs on certain county
roads; and
WHEREAS, an engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's
office and it was found that various locations warrant intersection control
modification.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that intersectional traffic control be
modified at the following locations and as indicated:
1) Remove the existing Yield sign and install a Stop sign, northbound
on Autumn Lane at East Lake Samish, Section 23, Township 37 North,
Range 3 East, W.M.
2) Remove the existing Yield sign southbound on Lakewood Lane and
install a Stop sign westbound on Wall Street at Lakewood Lane,
Section 27, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M.; i
3) Install a Stop sign eastbound on Wall Street at Geneva Street,
Section 27, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M.;
4) Install a Stop sign northbound on Grand Boulevard at Lake Whatcom
Boulevard, Section 35, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M.;
5) Install a Stop sign southbound on Cherry Lane at Lake Whatcom
Boulevard, Section 35, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M.;
6) Remove the existing Yield sign and install a Stop sign southwest
bound on King Mountain Road at James Street .Road, Section 8,
Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M.;
7) Install a Stop sign westbound on Montgomery Road at King Mountain
Road, Section 8, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M.;
8) Install a Stop sign southwest bound on King Avenue at James Street
Road, Section 8, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W.M.;
9) Install a Stop sign southwest bound on Frances Avenue at James
Street Road, Section 8, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, W'.M.;
10) Install a Stop sign northbound on Bissett Road at Massey Road,
Section 5, Township 38 North, Range 4 East, W.M.;
11) Remove the Stop sign westbound on Potter Road at Nelson Road and
install a Stop sign northbound on Nelson Road at Potter Road,
Section 17, Township 38 North, Range 5 East, W.M. ( Whatcom County
Code 10.16.105, item A, amended by this provision).
12) Install a Stop sign southbound on Fraberg Road at H Street Road,
Section 34, Township 41 North, Range 2 East, W.M.
13) Install a Yield sign westbound on Polinder Road at Thiel Road,
Section 22, Township 40 North, Range 3 East, W.M.;

14) Install a Yield sign southeast bound on Morgan Drive at Cottonwood
Drive, Section 24, Township 40 North, Range 1 West, W.M.;
15) The existing Stop signs westbound and eastbound on Bakerview Road
at Northwest Road shall remain in place and Stop signs shall be
installed northwest bound and southeast bound on Northwest Road at
Bakerview Road, modifying this intersection from the existing two -
way stop to a four -way stop, Sections 11, 12, 13 and 14, Township
38 North, Range 2 East, W.M.
16) Install a Stop sign westbound on Bay Road at Blaine Road, Section
32, Township 40 North, Range 1 East, W.M. (Stop signs on other
three legs of this intersection in place per Whatcom County Code
Section 10.16.015);
17) Remove the existing Stop sign and install a Yield sign eastbound
on the Bay Road Y connection, immediately east of Blaine Road,
Section 5, Township 40 North, Range 1 East, W.M., and to accept
the existing Stop sign northbound on the Blaine Road Y connection
immediately north of Bay Road, Section 32, Township 40 North,
Range 1 East, W.M.
18) Remove the existing Yield sign and install a Stop sign southbound
on Woodland Road at Harksell Road, and install a Stop sign with at
';Right Turn Permitted without Stopping" sign - westbound on- Harksell
Road at Woodland Road, Section 32, Township 40 North, Range 2 East,
W.M:
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer be and is'hereby
directed to;post the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County;Sheriff
and the Washington State Patrol be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code
Section 10.16.
