HomeMy WebLinkAboutord1984-0121 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26. 27 28 29 30 31 DATE February 2, 1984 INTRODUCED BY _iOEHL PROPOSED BY Personnel ORDINANCE NO. 84 -12 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A REVOLVING CHECKING ACCOUNT FOR THE INDUSTRIAL INSURANCE FUND WHEREAS, Whatcom County has applied for, and the State of Washington Department of Labor and Industries has approved Sel Insurance status to provide compensation to County employees who are injured while performing work for the County, and WHEREAS, in order to implement Self Insurance, a consolidated self insurance fund was established to which funds budgeted for this purpose have been transfered from each department= and, WHEREAS, in order to make timely payments of benefits to injured workers and to pay other bills which, according to law or regu- lation,.must be paid in a timely fashion, it is necessary to establish a revolving checking account for the Industrial Insurance Fund. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that a revolving checking account be established in a commercial bank in the amount of $8,000.00 for the purpose of making timely benefit payments to injured workers, and to firms or individuals who are entitled to timely payment for services rendered to injured workers under Whatcom County's Industrial Insurance Program. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Whatcom County Executive or the Whatcom County Executive Pro tempore shall be authorized to sign and issue checks drawn on this account when justification under the procedures set up to administer this program has been established. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that funds in the amount of $8,000 shall be transfered by warrant from the Industrial Insurance Fund #144 -000 -001 to the revolving checking account to establish an initial balance, and that additional funds as needed be trans- fered to maintain the balance at $8,000. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Whatcom County Council finds that the Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and /or support of the County government. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval by the County Executive. APPROVED this 2nd day of February ,1984.
