ORDINANCE NO. 84 -6
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING
THE SELF INSURANCE FUND FOR
INDUSTRIAL INSURANCE
WH4REAS, Whatcom County has applied for, and the State of I
Washington Department of Labor and Industries has approved Self
Insurance status to provide compensation to County employees
who are injured while performing work for the County, and
WHEREAS, in order to implement Self Insurance, it is necessary
to establish a consolidated self insurance fund to which funds
budgeted for this purpose may be transfered from each depart-
ment, and from which injured workers may be paid the benefits
established by Law and Regulation, and from which other valid
claims associated with job.related injuries may be paid,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that there is established a
Worker's Compensation Fund which shall be designated with fund
number 144 -000 -001 .
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED the purpose of this fund shall be to
hold monies budgeted by the County for the purpose of paying
valid workers compensation claims related to compensable
injuries incurred by County employees, in conformance with
existing or future laws and regulations of the State of
Washington;
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED the County Executive shall be the
Custodian of this fund, and the Executive shall be empowered to
draw monies from the fund, as required, to satisfy the valid
claims of County employees.
