AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE #.85 -3

WHICH PERTAINS TO COUNTY FIRE MARSHAL SERVICES
8 AND ARSON INVESTIGATION BY DELETING SECTION 4 OF
THAT ORDINANCE ENTITLED "SUNSET CLAUSE."

10 WHEREAS, Ordinanoe #85 -3, whioh pertains to County Fire Marshal
11 Servioes and Arson Investigation and whioh vests the responsibility
12 for Arson Investigation with the Sheriff's Department oontains a sunset
13 olause; and

WHEREAS, the sunset olause provides that Arson Investigation responsi-
15 bility will revert to the Bureau of Buildings and Code Administration
16 after Deoember 31, 1985, if Ordinanoe #85 -3 is not re- enaoted; and
17 WHEREAS, the Whatoom County Counoil has determined that Arson and Fire
18 Investigation should remain under the authority of the Whatoom County
19 Sheriff's Office and has adopted a Budget for 1986 whioh refleots this
20 determination,

22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that:

24 A. Section 4 of Ordinance #85 -3 entitled "Sunset Clause" is hereby
25 repealed as set forth below:

32 B. Ordinanoe #85 -3, as amended by paragraph A of this ordinance,
shall be in full foroe and effective after Deoember 31, 1985.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Whatcom County Council finds that this
ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
peace, health, safety and /or support of County government. This Emer-
gency Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval by the County
Executive and shall expire 60 days thereafter.
