DATE October 17, 1985 ORDINANCE N0, 85 -91 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING WHATCOM COUNTY FERRY RATES FOR 1986 WHEREAS, it is the intent of the County Council that the rate schedule for the Whatcom County ferry support, the ferry operation, exclusive of dock maintenance and operation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE If ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the following ferry rates shall become effective July 1, 1986: CASH FARES - ONE ROUND TRIP Driver /Passenger /Pedestrian 1.75 Vehicle: Under 8,001 lbs. 3.75 8,001 - 12,000 lbs. 7.50 12,001 - 20,000 lbs. 13.00 20,001 - 28,000 lbs. 18.00 289001 - 36,000 lbs, 23.UU 36,001 - 50,000 lbs. 29.00 Motorcycle 2.25 Bicycle 1.UO Children under 12.years when accompanied by an adult Free Children 12 through 18 years, during local school year Free Trailer: Under 10 feet 2.50 10 - 20 feet 3.75 21 - 30 feet 6.25 31 - 40 feet 14.00 Over 40 feet 19.00 Trailers shall include, but not be limited to, ball hitches, military hitches, fifth wheel in bed of pickup, dump truck trailers, recreation trailers and mobile homes. Logging trailers carried on trucks shall be charged regular round-trip rates based on legal licensed load. Overwidth vehicles or trailers occupying more than one lane shall be charged a 50% surcharge. In addition,, the towing vehicles shall be charged a 50% surcharge. Punchcards may be used for only one passage per trip., Unauthorized use of any punchcard or commuter pass will result in its confiscation. Student punchcards shall be sold to full -time students only. Proof of age and enrollment shall be required at time of purchase. 1985 punchcards shall be valid through January 15, 1986. 1986 punchcards shall be valid through January 15, 1987. In the event a vehicle permit holder acquires a different vehicle and no longer wishes the original permit to be used, a duplicate may be obtained at the Whatcom County Engineer's office for a service charge of $3.00 upon the return of the original permit. No duplicate permits will be Issued without the return of the original permit. Credit for 1985 punchcards purchased after October 1, 1986 may be received at the Courthouse towards purchase of 1986 punchcards until January 31, 1986. Credit for 1986 punchcards purchased after October 1, 1986 may be received at the Courthouse towards 1987 punchcards until January 31, 1987. ORDINANCE - 2. Amended by Council: 11/25/85 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 18 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 COMMUTER PASS Quarterly vehicle and driver commuter passes may be purchased for $175.00. A commuter pass allows unlimited trips for a vehicle and driver for three (3) months and shall be permanently affixed on the driver's side of the lower windshield, in full view of ferry personnel. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS Senior Citizens, as referred to herein, are persons 6i years of age or older. Punchcards are valid only for the individual to whom issued and /or the vehicle issued only when occupied by a card- carrying Senior Citizen. Enrolled members of the Lummi Indian Tribe who are issued appropriate iden- tification cards by the Tribe and who have legitimate tribal business upon Lummi Island, as indicated by the Lummi Indian Tribe, shall have free foot passage upon and across the ferry operated by Whatcom County between Gooseberry Point and Lummi Island. On or before June 30 of each year, the Lummi Indian Tribe shall transmit a list of such members to Whatcom County. This list maty be supplemented at any time. It is the intent of this rate schedule to recover appproxlmateiy 75`K of the cost of the ferry operation, exclusive of dock maintenance and operation. The Council shall review this rate schedule at its first June 1986 meeting in order to determine whether additional rate adjustments are necessary to carry out this intent. The effective date of this ordlrance shall be July 1, 1986, and the rates in effect on December 31, 1985 shall be the rates in effect until July 1, 1986.
