ORDINANCE NO. 85 -54
AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE TO
REVISE THE 1985 CURRENT EXPENSE
FUND PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, Whatcom County is eligible for an extension of its 1984-
1985 DWI Impact Funding from the State;
WHEREAS, Mr. Jack O'Connell of the State Office of Financial Man-
agement has advised that Whatcom County's grant application has
been accepted as submitted with the only variation being a possible
change in the funding level. Any such variation would be dealt
with as against reimburseable expenditures in 1986;
WHEREAS, monies to be received from the State may be applied retro-
actively to expenditures eligible under this grant application to
July 1, 1985;
WHEREAS, a total of $19,507.00 will be expended in calendar year
1985;
WHEREAS, this.ordinance will promote public safety for the Public
by ensuring the continued emphasis on prosecution and adjudication
of the DWI offender;
WHEREAS, this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservatio
of the public peace, health and safety and to support the County
Government and the existing institutions;
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE ORDAINED, that the following revised
budget is hereby approved for the 1985 Current Expense Fund
Prosecuting Attorney;
AND LET IT BE FURTHER ORDAINED that any employees hired under this
ordinance shall be temporary employees whose tenure shall not
exceed the period of the grant revenue supplied for this project
by the State of Washington;

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this situation constitutes an emergency
and the immediate enactment of this ordinance is required to pro-
mote the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and
safety and to support the County Government and its existing in-
stitutions. This being an emergency ordinance it shall expire
automatically as of the 61st day following the date on which the
ordinance becomes law.
