ORDIANANCE NO. 85 -36
ORDINANCE AMENDING WHATCOM COUNTY
CODE SECTION 20.62 TO AMEND THE
GENERAL COMMERCIAL DISTRICT TO
TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE GUIDE
MERIDIAN IMPROVEMENT PLAN.
WHEREAS, Whatcom County has adopted a Guide Meridian
Improvement Plan; and
WHEREAS, that plan will have an impact on the land-
scaping requirements of the Code; and
WHEREAS, the public should be made aware of those
requirements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, that Whatcom County
Code 20.62.651 shall be amended to add an additional section
as follows:
651 Landscaping. A landscape plan, pursuant to Section
20.80.610 of the Official Whatcom County Zoning
Ordinance, shall be submitted to the Zoning Administra-
tor for approval. The plan shall conform to the
following requirements:
(1) Fifteen (15) feet within the front yard setback
and situated adjacent to the road shall be used
only for landscaping, driveways, walkways and'
signs. The remainder of the front yard setback
may be used for parking.
Properties which are generally located on the
Guide Meridian between Horton and Kellogg roads,
and specifically identified in the Guide Meridian
Improvement Plan, shall be subject to the pro -
visions of said plan. The provisions of said
plan shall supersede this chapter where there
is inconsistency in minimum building setback
and landscape requirements.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that unless specifically
mentioned herein, all other terms and conditions of Whatcom
County Code Section 20.62.651 shall remain in full force and
effect.
