HomeMy WebLinkAboutord1985-0271 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 DATE: 4 -4 -85 INTRODUCED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Council ORDINANCE NO. 85 -27 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING LUMMI ISLAND COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WHEREAS, in April of 1979, the Whatcom County Council adopted the Lummi Island Comprehensive Plan which establishes policies regarding the operation of public works as well as other activities on Lummi Island; and, WHEREAS, presently the Whatcom County Council is establish- ing the policy for the use of roadside chemicals within Whatcom County; and, WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council has designated Lummi Island to be a sensitive area in which herbicides and pesticides should be prohibited; and, WHEREAS, it would be appropriate to amend the Lummi Island Comprehensive Plan to coincide with.the policy established in that resolution, that resolution being Resolution No. 85 -17; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Lummi Island Comprehensive Plan shall be amended by adding a new section to Section F. Policies for Community Facilities and Services. The new section shall read: F.4.7. Prohibit use of pesticides and herbicides on County Land, easements and rights-4-of-way , in order to protect the auality of the Island's limited_wbter resource.
