6 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE TO REVISE
THE 1986 ELECTION RESERVE FUND
7 BUDGET

WHEREAS, the initiative petition to repeal the Charter required
9 additional extra help to check valid signatures; and
10 WHEREAS, a larger than anticipated number of absentee ballots
requested required additional extra help and overtime; and
11
WHEREAS, the printing cost of ballots and legal advertising has
12 been much higher than anticipated in the adopted 1986 budget; and
13 WHEREAS, the County must fully fund the cost of elections and an
emergency situation exists in needing appropriation authority
14 immediately for payment to those performing the work;
15 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED the 1986 Election Reserve Fund
budget is hereby revised as follows:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED That an emergency does exist and this
22 Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage and
approval by the Executive; and further the Whatcom.County Council
23 finds that the Ordinance is necessary for the immediate
preservation of public peace, health, safety and /or support of the
24 County government.
