ORDINANCE NO. 86 -72
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 85 -97 AN ORDINANCE IN THE !LATTER
OF THE ADOPTION OF THE FINAL BUDGET OF
WHATCOM COUNTY FOR THE YEAR 1986 AND
RESTRICTING THE EXPENDITURE OF
CERTAIN FUNDS THEREIN
WHEREAS, the 1986 budget ordinance contains proviso (R) , which
provides for a lapse in the appropriation for the two new
Corrections Officers if a contract is not fully implemented by
October lst, 1986 with the Federal government for provision of 20
beds in the County Jail for federal prisoners; and,
WHEREAS, it is apparent that the Federal Government is not
interested in contracting with the County for that service; and,
WHEREAS, the new Corrections Officers positions authorized for the
County Jail are critical to the continued safe, effective and
efficient operation of that facility; and,
WHEREAS, the County will continue to explore all alternatives for
contracting available beds in the jail;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, section (R) of the above - mentioned
document is hereby amended as follows:
