HomeMy WebLinkAboutord1986-0631 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 INTRODUCED BY: _Consent PROPOSED BY: _Mental Health Boar DATE: July 17, 1986 ORDINANCE NO. 86 -63 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING WHATCOM COUNTY CODE 2.46 WHICH IS THE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES BY CREATING A NEW SECTION PROHIBITING METHADONE TREATMENT WHEREAS, Whatcom County Code 2.46.030 (I) creates in the Mental Health Services the responsibility for drug abuse treatment; and, WHEREAS, Engrossed Substitute House Bill No. 1479 allows the local legislative authority to decide whether or not they wish to have methadone treatment available within its boundaries; and, WHEREAS, Whatcom County presently does not have a methadone treatment program within its boundaries; and, WHEREAS, the drug abuse committee which has been established to review the treatment within Whatcom County has requested that the Whatcom County Council prohibit the inception of methadone treatment within Whatcom County; and, WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council agrees with this Board's considered opinion; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that Whatcom County Code Section 2.46 shall be amended by adding a new section as follows: 2.46.035 Methadone Treatment In accordance with the drug abuse treatment established in Whatcom County Code 2.46.030(I) there shall be no methadone treatment programs within Whatcom County.
