AN ORDINANCE AMENDING RATE INCREASE
GRANTED TO DELTA COMMUNICATIONS
NOW KNOWN AS GUINESS COMMUNICATIONS
WHEREAS, when the Whatcom County Council granted Delta
Communications a rate increase from Ten Dollars Canadian to Ten
Dollars U.S. the Council was under the impression that the Point
Roberts subscribers who paid Ten Dollars U.S. would be able to
receive certain cable television services.
WHEREAS it has come to the attention of the Whatcom County
Council that in fact the full services promised to Point Roberts
subscribers by the cable company are not universally received;
only those subscribers who have cable -ready televisions or who
purchase a converter at extra cost can receive the .full range of
service promised for the Ten Dollars U.S.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that in lieu of a direct rate
change, Guiness Communications, in order to provide all subscribers
with the service promised at the price set, is directed to provide
cable television converters to those Point Roberts subscribers
who desire and need such converters at no additional cost;
provided, however, that a reasonable, returnable deposit may be
required.
