ORDINANCE NO. 86 -49
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 85 -91
AMENDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW
LUMMI ISLAND FERRY RATES
WHEREAS, on October 17, 1985, Ordinance 85 -91 was
introduced and was amended on November 25, 1985, establishing new
rates on the Lummi Island Ferry; and,
WHEREAS, the Ordinance indicated these rates would go
into effect on July 1, 1986; and,
WHEREAS, the study reviewing these rates come out at
the end of May 1986; and,
WHEREAS, the Council desires more time to examine that
study before implementing any new rates.
WHEREAS, this Ordinance does nothing more than maintain
the rates which currently exist, therefore, no public hearing is
required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that Ordinance 85 -91
shall be amended as follows:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County
Council that the following ferry rates shall become effective
July -1 rg,p{,. October 1, 1986:
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Ordinance 85 -91 shall be
amended as follows:
It is the intent of this rate schedule to recover
approximately 75% of the cost of the ferry operation, exclusive
of dock maintenance and operation. The Council shall review this
rate schedule at the latest by its first meeting in September
4une -1986 me- &t -i-rfg in order to determine whether additional rate
adjustments are necessar;T to carry out this intent.
The effective date of this Ordinance shall be Jul-y--L
October 1, 1986, and the rates in effect on December 31, 1985,
shall be the rates in effect until October 1, 1986.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Summer surcharge shall
be that which was called for in 1985 and that no rate adjustments
shall occur intil the Council has reviewed the study and acted
upon its first meeting in September.
