HomeMy WebLinkAboutord1986-0311 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 INTRODUCED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Elections DATE: April 17, 1986 ORDINANCE NO.86 -31 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 82 -30 AND 83 -37 AND REESTABLISHING THE BOUNDARIES OF GENEVA PRECINCT, TEN MILE 2 AND VAN WYCK 1 PRECINCTS, LYNDEN TOWNSHIP 1, LYNDEN TOWNSHIP 4 PRECINCTS AND CREATING NEW PRECINCTS OF GENEVA 2, TEN MILE 5, VAN WYCK 4 AND COMBINING LYNDEN TOWNSHIP 1 AND LYNDEN TOWNSHIP 4 INTO LYNDEN TOWNSHIP 1 WHEREAS, RCW 29.04.040 provides that precincts with voting machines or electronic voting devices may contain a maximum of NINE HUNDRED (900) registered voters, and WHEREAS, when the precinct exceeds that number, they are to be redivided to bring them within these requirements, and WHEREAS, the precinct of Geneva contains ONE THOUSAND and SIX (1,006) registered voters, the precinct of Ten Mile 2 contains NINE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN (916) registered voters and the precinct of Van Wyck 1 contains ONE THOUSAND AND THIRTY FOUR (1,034) registered voters and must, therefore, be reconfigured to create new precincts entitled Geneva 2, Ten Mile 5 and Van Wyck 4, and WHEREAS, after the lines are changed, Geneva 1 will contain FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY ONE (451) registered voters, Geneva 2 will contain FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE (555) registered voters, Ten Mile 2 will contain FOUR HUNDRED AND SEVENTY - FIVE (475) registered voters, Ten Mile 5 will contain FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY -ONE (441) registered voters, Van Wyck 1 will contain FIVE HUNDRED AND THIRTY -FIVE (535) registered voters and Van Wyck 4 will contain FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY -NINE (499) registered voters, and WHEREAS, the Council proposes to change the name of Geneva to Geneva 1, and WHEREAS, Lynden Township 1 has THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY -NINE (389) registered voters and Lynden Township 4 has ON HUNDRED AND FIFTY -SEVEN (157) registered voters. The Whatco County Council wishes to combine these precincts as the both currently have the same polling place and share common districts. The new precinct shall be called Lynden Townshi 1. Beginning at the centerline of Lakeside Avenue and the Bellingham City Limits; thence west, south and west along said city limits line to a point intersecting the North -South centerline at the approximate Northwest corner of the Southeast quarter of Section 33, Township 38 North, Range 3 East, thence south along said centerline to the South line of Section 33, thence east one (1) mile to the North -South centerline of Section 34, said township and range, thence north along said centerline through the extension of Euclid Avenue and its continuation as Lakeside Avenue to the point of beginning. GENEVA 2 Beginning at the centerline of Lakeside Avenue and the Bellingham City Limits in Section 27, Township 38 North, Range 3 East; thence easterly along the city limits to the west shoreline of Lake Whatcom; thence southeast along said shoreline to its intersection with the northern boundary of Sudden Valley Development; thence west along said boundary to the centerline of Lake Whatcom Boulevard; thence northwesterly along said centerline to its intersection with the centerline of Coronado Street and south along said centerline of Coronado Street to its intersection with the centerline of Freemont Street; thence west along the centerline of Freemont Street to the centerline of Austin Street; thence south and southeasterly along said centerline of Austin Street and its continuation as Lake Louise Road to its intersection with the East -West centerline of Section 35, Township 38 North, Range 3 East; thence west along said centerline to its intersection with the centerline of Lakeview Avenue; thence southeasterly to the South Section line of Section 34, Township 38 North, Range 3 East; thence West along said section line to the North -South Centerline of said section; thence north along said centerline through the extension of Euclid Avenue and its continuation as Lakeside Avenue to the point of beginning. - LYNDEN TWP. 1 Beginning at a point where the International Boundary Line intersects the West line of Section 31, Township 41 North, flange 3 East; thence south along the West line of Sections 31, 6, 7 and 18 of Township 4:.0 and 41 North, flange 3 East to the northerly City Limits of the City of Lynden; thence easterly, southerly and westerly around the city limits of the City of Lynden to a point where the city limits intersections with State Highway 539; thence South along the centerline of State Highway 539 to its intersection with the main chanel of the Nooksack River; thence northeasterly and southeasterly along the meander line of said river to its intersection with the North -South centerline of Section 27, Township 40 North, Range 3 East; thence north -to the International Boundary, Township 41 North, Range 3 East; thence west along the International Boundary to the point of beginning.
