HomeMy WebLinkAboutord1986-0121 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24j 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 INTRODUCED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Finance DATE: February 20, 1986 ORDINANCE NO. 86 -12 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 85 -97 AN ORDINANCE IN THE MATTER OF THE ADOPTION OF THE FINAL BUDGET OF WHATCOM COUNTY FOR THE YEAR 1986 AND RESTRICTING THE EXPENDITURE OF CERTAIN FUNDS THEREIN WHEREAS, the 1986 budget ordinance contains proviso (R) which provides for a lapse in the appropriation for the two new corrections officers if a contract is not fully implemented by March 1, 1986 with the federal government for provision of 20 beds in the County jail for federal prisoners; and WHEREAS, it is not yet apparent that the federal government is interested in contracting with the County; and WHEREAS, the new corrections officer positions authorized for the county jail are critical to the continued safe, effective and efficient operation of that facility; and WHEREAS, the County will continue to explore all alterna- tives for contracting available beds in the jail; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that Section (R) of the above- mentioned document is hereby amended as follows: (R) At least 20 beds in the Jail shall be made available for housing federal prisoners by means of long term contract with the federal government.
