ORDINANCE NO. 86 -6
AN ORDINANCE TO REVISE THE
1986 WHATCOM COUNTY
CURRENT EXPENSE FUND,
DISTRICT COURT, PROSECUTING
ATTORNEY, AND PUBLIC DEFENDER
BUDGETS THEREIN
WHEREAS, the 1986 Whatcom County Budget eliminates three critical
criminal justice positions; and,
WHEREAS, preparation for the impacts of Expo X86 requires contin-
uity in staff; and,
WHEREAS, inadequate staffing levels in the criminal justice
system resulting in cases not being prosecuted, defended and
monitored in an effective manner, place the County in a precari-
ous liability situation; and,
WHEREAS, the welfare of the County is placed in jeopardy given
current caseloads and the ever - increasing demands for service;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, the following revisions to the
1986 Current Expense Fund, District Court, Prosecuting Attorney
and Public Defender budgets therein are hereby approved:
