ORDINANCE NO. 87 -87

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE TO REVISE THE
3 1987 CURRENT EXPENSE FUND,
PUBLIC DEFENDER'S BUDGET THEREIN

WHEREAS, the 1987 Public Defender's budget did not anticipate the
5 caseload that has developed during the year; and,
6 WHEREAS, the Public Defender has made numerous requests for
additional appropriation authority to carry out his mandated
7 responsibilities; and,
8 WHEREAS, the County must continue to provide adequate public
defense services for those qualifying persons;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED the 1987 Current Expense Fund,
10 Public Defender's budget plan therein, is hereby revised as
follows:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, Ordinance 86 -89 is hereby revised by
17 increasing the appropriation authority of the Current Expense
Fund, Public Defender's budget therein by $8,700.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, an emergency does exist and this ordinance
19 shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval by
the Executive; further the Whatcom County Council finds that this
20 ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of public
peace, health, safety and /or support of the County government.
