ORDINANCE NO. 87 -78
AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE TO REVISE
THE 1987 CURRENT EXPENSE FUND BUDGET
PUBLIC DEFENDER'S APPROPRIATION THEREIN
WHEREAS, the Public Defender's Office has an immediate need for
relief in current caseload; and
WHEREAS, the Superior Court has ordered assignment of private
counsel for cases previously assigned the Public Defender; and
WHEREAS, the County will benefit by temporarily contracting for
defense services through the Public Defender;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED the 1987 Current Expense Fund
budget, Public Defender's appropriation therein is hereby revised
as follows:
Resources:
00120 - X01.00.00.0000 Ending Fund Balance $3,000
Appropriation Enhancement:
00265 - 515.21.41.0100 Prof. Serv. /Attorneys $3,000
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, Ordinance 86 -89 is hereby revised by
increasing the appropriation authority of the Current Expense
Fund, Public Defender's appropriation therein by $3,000.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, an emergency does exist and this ordinance
shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval by
the Executive; further the Whatcom County Council finds that this
ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of public
peace, health, safety and /or support of the County government.
