HomeMy WebLinkAboutord1987-0601 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 I 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 INTRODUCED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Public Services DATE: SEPTEMBER 17, 1987 ORDINANCE N0. 87 -60 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING USAGE OF LAKE WHATCOM WATER ADJACENT TO MORNING AND AFTERNOON BEACH PARKS, SUDDEN VALLEY WHEREAS, Morning Beach Park and Afternoon Beach Park, Sudden Valley, are used as public swimming areas by members of the Sudden Valley Community Association. In addition, the Sudden Valley Golf Course has a specific hole located adjacent to Afternoon Beach Park. In order to avert conflicts between uses and in the interest of public safety, the Whatcom County Council wishes to amend Whatcom County Code, Chapter 11, Boating and swimming, to restrict use of Lake Whatcom; waters adjacent to Afternoon Beach Park and Morning Beach Park to non -power boat usage (see Exhibit "All attached hereto). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED as follows: Special Restrictions (amended) 11.32.010 Lake Whatcom C. Waters adjacent to Morning Beach Park Sudden Valley shall be restricted to swimming only. d. The water adjacent to Afternoon Beach Park is restricted to no public access on the west side of a line that extends northerly from Point A of a point on the easterly line of Parcel A to Point B as shown on Exhibit '!A" attached hereto and swimming and non -power boats on the east side of said line. Sudden Valley Community Association is authorized to cordon off the specific areas of Lake Whatcom to accomplish the purpose of this act.
