DATE INTRODUCED: February 18, 1 ORDINANCE NO. 88 -20 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 86 -88, AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING WHATCOM COUNTY FERRY RATES. WHEREAS, the County Council passed Ordinance No. 86 -88 on November 26, 1986, establishing Whatcom County ferry rates; and WHEREAS, RCW 84.36.381 establishes the property tax exemption qualifi- cations for Senior Deferral Income; and WHEREAS, RCW 84.36.381 amended has increased the Senior Deferral Income for property taxes from $15,000 to $18,000 for the 1989 property taxes; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 86 -88, Miscellaneous Provision (f), uses pro- perty tax exemptions as proof of qualifying income; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED THAT Ordinance No. 86 -88, Miscellaneous Provision (f) is hereby amended as follows: f) Senior citizens as referred to herein are residents of Lummi Island 65 years or older with a gross family income equal to or less than that set by the state as the senior deferral income for property taxes. Proof of qualification is the responsibility of the applicant and may include income tax returns or property tax exemptions. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that unless specifically mentioned within this ordinance, all other terms and conditions of Ordinance No. 86 -88 shall remain it full force and effect.
