AMENDING WHATCOM COUNTY CODE 2.02.200, VACANCIES
ON CITIZEN BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS
WHEREAS, the publication and notice of vacancies on citizen boards,
committees and commissions is essential to encourage participation in county
government by a broad cross - section of the public; and
WHEREAS, as it stands Whatcom County Code requires that a listing of
such vacancies be published not less than semiannually (that is, at least
twice yearly), even though past records show this has not been accomplished;
and
WHEREAS, the public would be well- served to have the listing published
annually, as has been the practice in years past.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Whatcom County Council amends
Whatcom County Code 2.02.200, subsection A, to reflect the following change in
wording:
A. The clerk of the council shall cause to be compiled and

semiennnn44yr annually_ a listing of vacancies and anticipated
vacancies on all citizen boards, committees and commissions, with
the appointive Jurisdiction of both the Council and the Executive.
ADOPTED this 6th day of January , 1989 .
