Yes /.bL1N%/ SUMMARY STATEMENT• Prices charged for the Code have not changed since 1980. This ordinance sets new, more realistic prices,. and also makes the Council Office staff reponsible for distribution of the Code updates. In the past, the Council Office has prepared necessary documents for codification, paid for the updates, and then turned the job of distribution over to the Executive's Office. Particularly with our location at 1000 N. Forest Street, this scheme would no longer be workable. - The Executive Office staff has reviewed the proposed ordinance and concurs. ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION: Council Clerk recommends the Council adopt the ordinance. ORD90 -127 coaes.ord 11/26/90 SPONSORED BY: Vander Yacht PROPOSED BY: Council Staff INTRODUCTION DATE: 11127/90 1 ORDINANCE NO. 90 -127 2 ESTABLISHING A NEW PRICE FOR WHATCOM COUNTY CODE 3 WHEREAS, Whatcom County Council Resolution 80 -60 set a price of $69 for 4 original edition copies of the code, with reprints listed at $30 each; and 5 WHEREAS, no provision was made for the cost of providing supplements, which are 6 printed twice yearly, to people who wish to purchase copies of the code; 7 WHEREAS, the cost to Whatcom County of providing the original edition has 8 increased over the past ten years; and 9 WHEREAS, a hearing seeking public comment on this price change took place 10 December 11, 1990; 11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that �2 Resolution 80 -60 is hereby repealed and replaced, in ordinance form, as follows: 13 Section 1.: The Whatcom County Code Book is to be distributed to the following 14 Whatcom County Government Departments and local public information points as follows: 15 1 Assessor 1 Auditor 16 1 Engineering 1 Superior Court Clerk 17 3 District Court/DC Prob. 2 Hearing Examiner 18 1 Juvenile Court 1 Planning 19 3 Prosecuting Attorney 1 Purchasing 20 4 Sheriff /Jail 1 State Examiner 21 4 Superior Court/Clerk 1 Treasurer 22 1 Personnel 1 Council of Governments 23 9 County Council 3 County Executive 24 1 Buildings and Codes 2 Law Library 25 1 Bellingham Library 3 Rural Library 26 1 City of Bellingham 1 WWU Library 27 1 Combined Treatment 1 Developmental Disabilities 28 1 Parks 1 Public Defender 29 2 Public Works Admin /Acctg 1 Maintenance & Operations Codes.Ord, 11/26/90, Page 1 1 1 Health Department 1 Environmental Health 2 1 Emergency Management 1 Information Services 3 4 Section 2: The County Council Office shall distribute additional copies to other public agencies as the Clerk of the Council deems fit. 5 Section 3: Original edition copies of the code book are to be sold for one - hundred 6 dollars ($100.00) each, and any reprints made of any portion of the County Code or any 7 updates to the County Code will be sold at 20 cents per page.
