SUMMARY STATEMENT.•
We have reviewed the speed limit, particularly considering the recent relocation of the
entrance to Birch Bay Village, and recommend the speed limit be reduced in this vicinity
to 30 -mph.
ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION.-
We recommend the speed limit be lowered to 30 -mph on the Birch.Point Road from one -half
mile west of Selder Drive to Shintaffer Road.

ORDINANCE NO. 90 -111
AN ORDINANCE REGARDING THE MATTER OF
ESTABLISHING A SPEED LIMIT ON A PORTION
OF BIRCH POINT ROAD
WHEREAS, The Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
establish speed limits on Certain County roads; and
WHEREAS, an Engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that a speed limit be established as
follows:
30 mph. on Birch Point Road from one -half mile west of Selder Drive to
Shintaffer Road in Sections 23 and 24, Township 40 North, Range 1 West.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to post
the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington
State Patrol be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code
Section 10.04.040.
