SUMMARY STATEMENT.•
_ Public Health was given a State grant to fund a Nurse Practitioner to provide
HIV testing and counseling at the time of their STD appointment. Reason for
this is. the. STD :Clinic can not provide the time.:.

3 AN ORDINANCE REVISING THE 1990
4 PUBLIC HEALTH FUND APPROPRIATION
5 WHEREAS, clients attending the Health Department Sexually Transmitted
6 Disease (STD) Clinic are at increased risk for exposure to HIV infection;
7 WHEREAS, there is not time in the STD clinic to provide the 30 -45 minute
8 required HIV pre and post test counseling;
9 WHEREAS, the Region 3 AIDS Service Network appropriated $7,235 to add a
10 nurse practitioner (0.55 FTE) to the STD Clinic in order that all clients can be
11 offered HIV testing and counseling at the time of their STD appointment.
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council
13 that the 1990 Whatcom County Public Health Fund Budget plan is hereby revised as
14 follows:
