Yes /LX/ No /_/ SUMMARY STATEMENT. - The South Fork Valley Citizens submitted a petition for a moritorium on various developments in this area until the Comprehensive Land Use Plan that is being developed now is completed. They feel that until this Plan is implemented, the South Fork area is vulnerable to developers and feel that the situation requires the protection of a moratorium on short platting, long platting, multi - family dwellings and major development permits for the period of time it takes to complete the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Fork Citizens DATE: X12 ,190 1 ORDINANCE NO. 90 -67 2 AN ORDINANCE TO IMPOSE A MORATORIUM 3 ON VARIOUS DEVELOPMENTS IN THE SOUTH FORK VALLEY 4 WHEREAS, the South Fork Valley has been in an interim state called General 5 Protection (GP) since 1972; and 6 WHEREAS, the county planners will be devising a Comprehensive Land Use 7 Plan to be completed in late 1990; and 8 WHEREAS, the South Fork Valley is the last area in Whatcom County to be 9 updated due to explosive growth in other areas of the county; and 10 WHEREAS, until a plan is implemented, the South Fork Valley is vulnerable 11 to outside developers taking advantage of it's unprotected situtation; and 12 WHEREAS, continued development could compromise the ability to effectively 13 complete the planning for the area's overall economic well being and the general 14 health, safety and welfare of the community; 15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council: No application on the South Fork Valley for short platting, long platting, multi - family 11 dwellings and major development permits shall be accepted by the County until the 18 approval of the revised South Fork Valley Comprehensive Land Use Plan or until 19 June 30, 1991, whichever conies first. 20 ADOPTED this 10th day of July , 1990. 21 22 ATTEST: 23 24.
