Ordinance to revise the Assessor's appropriation in the Current Expense Fund
to provide money for the data entry of zoning information.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The 1989 Budget provided about $6,000 in the Planning Department budget for a two part
project. One half of the project was undertaken and completed by Planning and that was
to review the zoning districts indicated on the Assessor's property files. That took about
half of the appropriation. Because it was a big project and was done later than expected,
the Assessor's office was not able to enter the data on property files information before
the end of the year. All parties agreed to allow the money to roll into the 1990 budget,
and it was the intention to undertake and complete the second half of this project in 1990.
This ordinance provides funds for that to happen. It will save much staff time in the Plan-
ning and Assessor's office and will be of great public use because all the information will

REVISION TO THE 1990
CURRENT EXPENSE FUND, ASSESSOR'S
APPROPRIATION THEREIN FOR DATA
ENTRY OF ZONING INFORMATION
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Planning Department completed a review of the
zoning districts indicated on the Whatcom County Assessor's property files; and
WHEREAS, the County Council approved supplemental appropriation during 1989
in the Planning Department budget for the purpose of changing the recorded master
property files information to reflect current zoning; and
WHEREAS, the workload in both the Planning Department and Assessor's
Office during 1989 prevented this project from being completed; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that the changes be made to the current data base
to keep the public record current;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED the Whatcom County Council hereby revises
the 1990 Current Expense Fund, Assessor's budget plan therein as follows:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that ordinance 89 -105 is hereby amended by adding
$3,000 in appropriation authority to the 1990 Current Expense Fund, Assessor's
budget therein.
