AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING WHATCOM
COUNTY VOTING PRECINCTS
WHEREAS, there have been numerous annexations by cities
within Whatcom County over the past several years which
require precinct boundary changes; and,
WHEREAS, The County Auditor has discovered errors in
the legal descriptions of many precinct boundaries; and,
WHEREAS, numerous legal descriptions of precinct
boundaries need updating through elimination of references to
obsolete landmarks and more precise boundary descriptions; and,
WHEREAS, clarification is needed that all precinct
boundaries are established pursuant to the authority of the
County Council; and
WHEREAS, currently, there are in excess of fourteen
(14) different city and county ordinances establishing
precinct boundaries within Whatcom County; and,
WHEREAS, a single County ordinance establishing the
legal boundaries for all precincts within Whatcom County is
needed to promote simplicity, uniformity and to facilitate
recording subsequent precinct boundary changes,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that:
1. All ordinances or portions thereof establishing
voting precinct boundaries in Whatcom County enacted prior to
this ordinance are hereby repealed.

2. A single new ordinance establishing all voting
precincts in Whatcom County is hereby enacted effective
April 13, 1990 and shall read as set forth in the
attached Exhibit "A ", which is fully incorporated herein.
