SUMMARY STATEMENT,•
The Drug Task Force Fund was discontinued at the end of 1989 because the County thought the
State was discontinuing funding. With a recent amendment to the contract, expenditure authoiit
has been granted till March 31, 1990, so we need to re- establish the fund and adopt a budget
plan. It is anticipated that the funding will be continued beyond March 31, but as we are
advised of this by the State, we will return to Council with additional supplemental budget
ordinances.to increase the Fund.

REESTABLISHMENT OF THE DRUG
TASK FORCE FUND AND APPROPRIATION
THEREFORE
WHEREAS, the 1990 County budget did not plan for continuation of the Drug
Task Force and no appropriation was provided for the same; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Community Development entered into an
amendment to the original Drug Task Force contract authorizing continuation of
expenditure authority through March 31, 1990; and
WHEREAS, this amendment allows Whatcom County to expend the remaining
monies in the fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED the Whatcom County Council
hereby adopts the following detailed budget plan for the reestablishment of the Drug
Task Force Fund:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that ordinance 89 -105 is hereby amended by adding
the Drug Task Force Fund and providing the $43,212 appropriation therefore.
