Ordinance enhancing the Executive Office budget to provide additional resources
to the Financial Management Committee, the committee charged with implementing a
better financial management system for Whatcom County

SUMMARY STATEMENT-
The 1990 Current Expense Fund appropriation for the County Executive needs to be increased
to provide more monies for software changes, forms changes, travel, etc. for the Financial
Management Committee members who are working toward the implementation of a new financial
management structure for the county.
There will be adequate unencumbered fund balance at the end of 1989 to allow for the
funding of this request.

REVISION TO THE 1990 CURRENT EXPENSE
FUND, EXECUTIVE OFFICE APPROPRIATION
THEREIN FOR FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the 1990 Current Expense Fund appropriation for the Executive
Office included office supplies, equipment and salary and benefits for the financial
analyst who is working with the Financial Management Committee to develop policies
and procedures and select new financial software; and
WHEREAS, it has become obvious that the Committee will need additional
resources for interim software changes, forms changes, systems changes and travel for
members to visit other jurisdictions to review their financial systems and software; and
WHEREAS, the County benefits from each of the changes the Committee
implements through greater efficiencies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED the Whatcom County Council
hereby revises the 1990 Current Expense Fund, Executive Office budget plan as
follows:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that ordinance 89 -105 is hereby amended by
adding $10,000 in appropriation authority to the Current Expense Fund, County
Executive's budget therein.
