SUMMARY STATEMENT.•
Several Council members propose changing the regular meeting date of the Council from
Thursdays to Tuesdays or Wednesdays. This ordinance will accomplish the change.
The item ryas discussed by Council at its 1 -11 -90 special meeting. It is being intro-
duced by Marge Laidlaw and Bob Imhof.

4 CODE SECTION 2.02.010, ESTABLISHING REGULAR MEETING
5 TIMES FOR THE WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL

8 WHEREAS, a majority of the Whatcom County Council has determined that
9 the evenings of Tuesdays for scheduling Council meetings would allow for better
10 communication with the public and County Administration; and
11 WHEREAS, Council staff would be able to receive and process vital
12 information more efficiently for the Council, the public, the Administration and
13 others; and
14 WHEREAS, local, state and regional meetings of interest to Council members
15 tend to take place on the last two work days of the week;

17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council
18 that regular meetings of the Council shall take place on Tuesday evenings, beginning
19 in March of 1990; and
20
21 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Chapter 2 of the Whatcom County Code
22 shall be amended as follows:

24 2.02.010 Meetings -- Times. A. The regular meeting time of the council
25 shall be the first and third Thuisdays of eaeh month WMANNI4ft
26 °;'31 at seven p.m. in the Whatcom County
27 Courthouse, unless decided otherwise , by the Council. Special meetings
28 may be called by the chairperson of the council as required, provided
29 proper public notice and notice to council members is given.
30 B. The council shall also regularly meet as a committee of the

whole the second Thursday t of each month at seven p.m., at
the Whatcom County Courthouse, unless decided otherwise by a majority
of the council. The chair of the council finance committee or a
designee shall take minutes at such committee of the whole meetings.
