Related File Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number (this item only): Ord 93 -094 1 emrae.ord 12/14/93 SPONSORED BY: Consent 2 AB93 -406A PROPOSED BY: Buildings & Code 3 INTRODUCTION DATE: -12.114.193 (Addendum) 1 ORDINANCE NO. 93 -094 2 AN EMERGENCY EXTENSION OF EMERGENCY ORDINANCE 93 -068, WHICH 3 ERASED THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE SUNSET CLAUSE 4 WHEREAS, according to a sunset clause in the Uniform Fire Code, enacted by 5 Ordinance 92 -073, the Fire Code was to have expired at midnight, October 12, 1993; and 6 WHEREAS, the County is required to have the Uniform Fire Code in force; and 7 WHEREAS, in October the County Council and the County Executive believed 8 passage of an emergency. ordinance was necessary to eliminate the sunset date, for the 9 immediate preservation of the public peace, health or safety or support of the county 10 government and its institutions; and 11 WHEREAS, the Buildings and Code Division of the Public Works Department 12 notified the Council Office that the emergency ordinance, which was adopted October 13 12, 1993 as Ordinance 93 -068, expired December 13, 1993; and 14 WHEREAS, it is necessary to again adopt an emergency ordinance re- enacting 15 the terms of the recently - expired emergency ordinance in order to immediately preserve 16 the public peace, health, safety and support of the county government. and its institutions; 17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that, 18 for a second emergency 60 -day period, Ordinance 92 -073 is hereby amended as follows: 19 "... 15.16.010. The Uniform Fire Code permanent rules 91 -16 -115, with 20 appendices thereto and latest supplements, 1991 Edition, published by the 21 International Fire Code Institute, is hereby adopted by reference including each 22 and all the rules and regulations printed therein, except as herein modified, and 23 shall be in full force and effect in Whatcom County .
