To reduce further damage to the Flynn Road Bridge No. 51A, it has been found necessary
to place a 22 =ton weight limit on the bridge due to structural deficiencies. Weight
limit warning signs should be placed on roads leading to the bridge to alert trucks
weighing over 22 -tons of the weight limit.

ORDINANCE NO. 93 -077
AN ORDINANCE REGARDING THE MATTER OF PLACING A
WEIGHT LIMIT ON FLYNN ROAD BRIDGE NO. 51A
WHEREAS, IN COMPLIANCE WITH WCC- 12.06.010 AND 12.06.060, it is found
necessary and expedient to place a weight limit on Flynn Road Bridge, No. 51A, over
Fishtrap Creek; and
WHEREAS, an Engineering study has been conducted by the County Engineer's office
and such study has determined that it is necessary to place a 22 -ton weight limit on this
bridge due to structural deficiencies found during the study; and
WHEREAS, weight limit warning signs should be placed on roads leading to the bridge
to alert trucks weighing over 22 -tons of the weight limit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that a 22 -ton weight limit be placed on Flynn
Road Bridge No. 51A over Fishtrap Creek, and also place weight limit warning signs on
Bay -Lyn Road and River Road to detour truck traffic weighing over 22 -tons: Such
controls shall remain in effect until such time as Bridge No. 51A is replaced and found
to be structurally sound.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is
hereby directed to post and maintain appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County
Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
