INTRODUCTION DATE October 26, 1993
ORDINANCE NO. 93 -074
ORDERING THE CLOSURE OF RAILROAD AVENUE
AT WICKERSHAM STREET
10 WHEREAS, Whatcom County Public Works Department, pursuant to the officially
11 adopted 1993 Annual Construction Program, is planning the reconstruction of the
12 Wickersham Street overcrossing of the Burlington Northern Railway, and
13
14 WHEREAS, in order to improve the operating safety of this structure, it is necessary to
15 significantly raise the grade at Wickersham Street at the Railroad Avenue intersection,
16 and
17
18 WHEREAS, reconstructing Railroad Avenue at this location in order to allow it to remain
19 open at this location and will adversely impact abutting property and will require
20 significant expenditure, and
21
22 WHEREAS, the County Council had a hearing on the proposed closure at its November
23 9, 1993 meeting and is authorized to close the road according to the provisions of RCW
1 36.32.120;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the
Administration is directed to close Railroad Avenue at Wickersham Street to all vehicular
traffic.
ADOPTED this 9th day of November , 1993.
