Ordinance 92 -073 contains a sunset clause of October 12, 1993; this ordinance erases a portion of lines 4, 5 and
6 of Ordinance 92 -073 so that the Uniform Fire Code remains in full force, as required by law.

1 ORDINANCE NO. 93 -068
2 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 92 -073,
3 REGARDING THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE, TO ERASE THE SUNSET CLAUSE
4 WHEREAS, the Fire Code expires at midnight, October 12, 1993; and
5 WHEREAS, the County is required to have the Uniform Fire Code in force; and
6 WHEREAS, the County Council and the County Executive believe passage of this
7 emergency ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
8 health or safety or support of the county government and its institutions;
9 NOW, THEREFORE-, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
10 Ordinance 92 -073 be amended as follows:... 15.16.010. The Uniform Fire Code
11 permanent -rules 91 -16 -115, with appendices thereto and latest supplements, 1991
12 Edition, published by the International Fire Code Institute, is hereby adopted by
13 reference including each and all the rules and regulations printed therein, except as
14 herein modified, and shall be in full force and effect in Whatcom County as an iR4e -i

18 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that passage of this emergency ordinance is
19 necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health or safety or support
20 of the county government and its existing institutions; and
21 BE IT FINALLY ORDAINED that this emergency ordinance shall take effect
22 immediately when adopted by a two- thirds vote of the Council and upon approval by the
23 County Executive, pursuant to Whatcom County Home Rule Charter Section 2.40.
