SUBJECT. • Placing a weight limit on "H" Street Road Bridge No. 41 and placing weight limit warning signs
on roads leading to the bridge.

To reduce further damage to the "H" Street Road Bridge No. 41, it has been found necessary to place a 15 ton
weight limit on the bridge due to structural deficiencies. Weight limit warning signs should be placed on Jackman
Road and Axling Road to alert trucks weighing over 15 -tons of the weight limit.

6 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING THE MATTER OF PLACING A
7 WEIGHT LIMIT ON "H" STREET ROAD BRIDGE NO. 41
8 AND PLACING DETOUR SIGNS AT JACKMAN ROAD AND AXLING ROAD

11 WHEREAS, IN COMPLIANCE WITH WCC 12.06.010 AND 12.06.060, it is found
12 necessary and expedient to place a weight limit on "H" Street Road Bridge, No. 41, over
13 Bertrand Creek; and

15 WHEREAS, an Engineering study has been conducted by the County Engineer's office
16 and such study has determined that it is necessary to place a 15 -ton weight limit on this
17 bridge due to structural deficiencies found during the study; and

WHEREAS, weight limit warning signs should be placed on roads leading to the bridge
to alert trucks weighing over 15 -tons of the weight limit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that a 15 -ton weight limit be placed on "H"
Street Road Bridge No. 41 over Bertrand Creek, and also place weight limit warning
signs at Jackman Road and Axling Road to detour truck traffic weighing over 15 -tons.
Such controls shall remain in effect until such time as Bridge No. 4.1 is replaced and
found to be structurally sound.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is
hereby directed to post and maintain appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County
Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
ADOPTED this 28th day of September , 1993.
