The ordinance amends Whatcom County Code 2.21, Board of Equalization, to reflect pay increase authorized
1 he County Council in 1992. This increases the per -day pay for members of the Board of Equalization from
�., to $75 per day, bringing the salary in line with that paid to other board members statewide.
This action will correct an administrative oversight (this amendment should have proposed to the Council in
1992).
ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION
The Clerk recommends adoption of the ordinance, and the companion resolution filed under AB93 -224A (listed
as a separate agenda item).

4 AMENDING WHATCOM COUNTY CODE 2.21,
5 BOARD OF EQUALIZATION, TO REFLECT PAY INCREASE
6 AUTHORIZED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL IN 1992

8 WHEREAS, during the 1992 budget preparation process the Clerk of the
9 Whatcom County Council and the Board of Equalization Clerk requested that the per -
10 day pay for members of the Board of Equalization be increased from $55 to $75 per day,
11 to bring the salary in line with that paid to other board members statewide; and
12
13 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council authorized the pay increase for Board
14 of Equalization members from $55 per day to $75 per day when it adopted the budget
.3 for 1992; and

17 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Code, section 2.21, should have been amended
18 at that time to indicate the increase in pay; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the need for such an amendment was recently brought to the
21 Council staff's attention by an employee of the State Auditor's Office; and
22
23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
24 Section 2.21 of the Whatcom County Code shall be amended as follows:

26 2.21.030 Compensation for meeting attendance. As authorized
27 by RCW 84.48.010, members of the board of equalization are to receive
28 fifty five dollars per day for each day of actual attendance of
