A second issue mentioned in the letter will be dealt with by motion. Carol Rondello was formerly the director of a public interest group and was appointed in that category; Carl Weimer has since replaced her as director. It would be more appropriate if Rondello were to assume Wei er's spot representing IR citizen interests and Weimer be the representative for the public interest group category. INTRODUCTION: April 13. 1993 1 2 ORDINANCE NO. 93 -023 AMENDING ORDINANCE 91 -002, WHATCOM COUNTY CODE SECTION 2.78, CLARIFYING THE MEMBERSHIP ON THE SOLID WASTE ADVISORY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the State Legislature amended RCW 70.95.165 to allow County Solid Waste Advisory Committees to consist of more than nine members, at the discretion of the County Legislative authority; and WHEREAS, the same section of law indicates the Solid Waste Advisory Committee members shall be appointed by the County Legislative authority; and WHEREAS, Whatcom County Code section 2.78 provides for a eleven- member Whatcom County Solid Waste Advisory Committee, with appointments recommended to the County Council by the County Executive; �d NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that 19 Whatcom County Code 2.78 is hereby amended as indicated below: 20 21 2.78.010 Committee -- Established. The County Solid Waste Advisory Committee 22 is established to be comprised of a county -wide group of representatives of citizens, 23 public interest groups, business, the waste management industry, and local elected public 24 officials to provide for coordination and information exchange between the groups about 25 solid waste issues and to provide ongoing public input and advice to Whatcom County on 26 solid waste management issues. 27 2.78.020 Committee -- Members. The County Solid Waste Advisory Committee 28 shall be composed of eleven - members. The County Executive shall be able to appoint non - voting ex officio members who shall serve at the executive's discretion. The County Council shall nominate and appoint members to the committee in accordance with its rules of procedure as required by RCW 70.95.165. ADOPTED this 11th day of May . 1993.
