SUMMARY STATEMENT: Please complete sections of box as appropriate & explain the item below.
An Engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's office on E. Hemmi Road. It was determined that
due to the accident history and increased traffic, the speed limit should be reduced from the existing 50 mph to 35
mph.

1 ORDINANCE NO. 94 -064
2 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS
3 ON CERTAIN COUNTY ROADS
4 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
5 establish speed limits on certain County roads; and
6 WHEREAS, an engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's
7 office;
8 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
9 the speed limits be established as follows:
10 35 mph on East Hemmi Road from the Guide Meridian to Hannegan Road,
11 within Section 17, 18, 19, 20, Township 39 North, Range 3 East, W.M.
12 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to
13 install the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington
14 State Patrol be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
15 Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code, Section
16 10.04.050 and removed from Section 10.04.080.
17 ADOPTED this 8th day of Novembgr1994.
