Baker Highway -has improved the sight distance and widened the roadway and shoulders. Engineering recommends the speed limit on this portion of the road be raised from 45. mph to 50 mph. "7/94: Introduced /11/94: Council adopted the ordinance. 7 -0 Related hale Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number (this item only): Ord 94 -062 SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Transportation Services - Engineering INTRODUCTION DATE: 9/27/94 1 ORDINANCE NO. 94 -062 2 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMIT 3 ON EAST SMITH ROAD 4 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to 5 establish speed limits on County roads; and 6 WHEREAS, an engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's 7 office; 8 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the 9 speed limit on East Smith Road be established as follows: 10 50 miles per hour from Mount Baker Highway to Noon Road, for a total length of 11 4.25 miles.
