2 ORDINANCE TO AMEND WHATCOM COUNTY CODE, CHAPTER 12.36 -
3 LOAD LIMITS VARIOUS BRIDGES
4 WHEREAS, new bridges have been built, reconstructed or culverts installed to
5 replace certain bridges which previously had load limits; and
6 WHEREAS, Bridge No. 404 - Finsrud Road, has been abandoned; and
7 WHEREAS, Bridge No. 83 on the Blaine Road has been transferred to State of
8 Washington jurisdiction when the Blaine Road became a State Highway; and
9 WHEREAS, Bridges numbered 503 - Old Lummi Ferry Slip, 503A - Old Lummi
10 Ferry Slip Approach, No. 504 - Gooseberry Ferry Slip and No. 504A - Gooseberry Ferry
11 Slip Approach, were incorrectly reverse numbered and both Old Lummi facilities have been
12 abandoned and removed; and
13 WHEREAS, tidal variations and vessel size require weight limits on the Whatcom
14 Chief; such limits being regulated by weight limits on the Gooseberry and new Lummi Ferry
15 slips; and
16 WHEREAS, the conditions requiring permanent weight limits on the Lake Louise
17 Road are no longer valid; and
18 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Code, Chapter 12.36 should reflect the changes.
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the
20 following Sections in Chapter 12.36 should be deleted from the Whatcom County Code:

AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that Bridge No. 504 - Gooseberry Ferry Slip
and Bridge No. 507 - New Lummi Ferry Slip be limited to 20 -ton, except the limit shall be
25 -ton with a weight slip and prior permission of the ferry vessel operator.
ADOPTED this 27th day of. Sept . , 1994.
