SUBJECT.- Ordinance regarding the matter of placing "No Parking Signs" on Northwest Drive and West Smith Road
in the vicinity of the County's Northwest Annex office complex.

1 ORDINANCE NO. 94 =046
2 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING THE MATTER OF ESTABLISHING PARKING
3 CONTROL ON NORTHWEST DRIVE AND WEST SMITH ROAD
4 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.570 to
5 restrict parking on certain County roads; and
6 WHEREAS, a study conducted by the Whatcom County Engineer's Office found the
7 need to reduce traffic congestion and improve sight distance for the driveway accesses onto
8 Northwest Drive and West Smith Road in the vicinity of the County's Northwest Annex
9 office complex;
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that a
11 "No Parking Anytime" zone be established at the following locations:
12 1) Northwest Drive on the east side of the road from W. Smith Road south for
13 700 feet, Section 34, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M.
14 2) W. Smith Road on the south side of the road from Northwest Drive east for
15 500 feet, Section 34, Township 39 North, Range 2 East, W.M., except for a
16 widened area between 80 and 170 feet east of the intersection (immediately
17 east of an existing public telephone booth) which shall be posted "parallel
18 parking, 15- minute limit ".
19 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to post
20. the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol
21 be notified by a copy of this Ordinance.
22 Provisions of this Ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code Section
23 10.24.
24 ADOPTED this 11th day of October 1994.
