residents of the Cain Lake area.

1 ORDINANCE NO. 94 -019
2 PROHIBITING THE USE OF NON - ELECTRIC MOTORS ON CAIN LAKE
3 WHEREAS, a citizen petition has been received by the Whatcom County
4 Council requesting a change in the law regarding the use of boat motors on the waters of
5 Cain Lake; and
6 WHEREAS, information has been presented that indicates that the use of non-
7 electric motors upon the lake has resulted in a variety of problems including pollution
8 from gas and oil products, speeds in excess of existing law, erosion to shoreline areas,
9 endangerment of swimmers, and other concerns; and
10 WHEREAS, the Council finds that further restrictions imposed by the County on
11 the use of motors will likely reduce the problems cited;
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
13 Chapter 11.32 of the Whatcom County Code is amended as follows:
_4 11.32.050 Cain Lake.
