Ordinance or Resolution Number (this item only): Ord 94 -006 I fire wde.ord 12 /29 /93 SPONSORED BY: Consent 2 AB93 -406B PROPOSED BY: Buildings & Code 3 INTRODUCTION DATE: 1/11/94 1 ORDINANCE NO. 94 -006 2 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 1991 UNIFORM FIRE CODE WITHOUT A SUNSET 3 CLAUSE 4 WHEREAS, the Uniform Fire Code, enacted by Ordinance 92 -073, which was 5 adopted October 13, 1992, was to have expired at midnight, October 12, 1993; and 6 WHEREAS, the County is required to have the Uniform Fire Code in force; and 7 WHEREAS, the Buildings and Code Division of the Public Works Department 8 notified the Council Office that the emergency ordinance, which was adopted October 12, 9 1993, as Ordinance 93 -068, expired December 13, 1993; and 10 WHEREAS, at a public meeting on December 14, 1993, Council again adopted an 11 emergency ordinance re- enacting the terms of the recently - expired emergency ordinance in 12 order to immediately preserve the public peace, health, safety and support of the county 13 government and its institutions; and 14 WHEREAS, the Administration was directed to prepare any further ordinances 15 needed to permanently enact this, and any other changes related to the Uniform Fire Code, 16 as deemed necessary. 17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that, 18 Ordinance 92 -073 is hereby amended as follows: 19 "... 15.16.010. The Uniform Fire Code permanent rules 91 -16 -115, with appendices 20 thereto and latest supplements, 1991 Edition, published by the International Fire Code 21 Institute, is hereby adopted by reference including each and all -the rules and 22 regulations printed therein, except as herein modified, and shall be in full force and 23 effect in Whatcom County. 24 25 26 Uniform Fire Code Ordinance, AB93 -406B, 12129193 Page I 1 2 3 ADOPTED this 25th day of January , 1994.
