6 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ESTABLISHMENT OF
A CENTRAL•ROAD DISTRICT AT G -3 SITE, SMITH
7 AND NORTHWEST ROADS; DECLARING B,AK 'E,,RVIEW
SITE SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING ITS PUBLIC SALE;
8 AND DECLARING INTENT TO USE PROCEEDS TO
IMPROVE F'ACII.,ITIES AT CENTRAL SITE AND SATELLITE

11 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Home Rule Charter places super -
12 vision of'al1 county administrative offices under the County
13 Executive as Chief Executive Officer of the County, replacing the
14 three County Cornmissioners with one executive officer and eliminatir.
15 the need for separate road district operations; and
16 WHEREAS, more efficient administration of the county roads will
17 result, and money can be saved, and greater services rendered by
18 centralizing ou.r county road administration operation at one
lg location.
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that one county -wide shop be
21 established, consolidating operations of the three road districts,
22 to be located at Smith Road and Northwest Road, at the current
23 site of District No. 3 which is to be improved by moving facilities
24 as necessary to allow screening with a green belt, and
25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Baker.view spur site is no longer
26 necessary and is declared excess and surplus to the future needs
27 of the County, and authority is granted to proceed to sell same as
28 provided by law, and the proceeds of sale price is to be earmarked
29 for the construction of a facility, on a central site at G -3 and
30 to update sat(.,lli.i;e facilities.
31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that construction of the central garage
32 be scheduled to c.o.ilmence in 1980, subsequent to the sale of
