RESOLUTION NO. 79 -24
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE INTER -
LOCAL COOPERATION AGREEMENTS
BETWEEN WHATCOM COUNTY AND THE
CITIES OF SUMAS, EVERSON, LYNDEN,
BLAINE AND FERNDALE CONCERNING
MUTUAL AID AND ASSISTANCE IN THE
EVENT OF A MAJOR DISORDER OR LAW
ENFORCEMENT OPERATION; AND AUTHOR-
IZING THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE TO SIGN
THE AGREEMENT.

WHEREAS, effective control during a major disorder
or law enforcement operation depends upon immediate activation of
all possible manpower resources, and bringing this force to bear
to preserve life and property at the location of the incident; and
WHEREAS,:it is necessary and desirable that cooper-
ative agreements be executed for the interchange of such mutual
aid on a county-wide basis between Whatcom County and the cities
of Lynden, Sumas, Everson, Blaine and Ferndale; and
WHEREAS, R.C.W. 39.34.080 requires that the
Interlocal Agreement be authorized by the governing body of the
local government prior to execution;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The County Council authorizes and approves the
Interlocal Cooperation Agreements between Whatcom County and the
Resolution - 1.

cities of Blaine, Everson, Lynden, Sumas and Ferndale concerning
mutual aid and assistance and authorizes the County Executive to
sign the Agreements.
ADOPTED during regular session this 20th day of
September , 1979.
