RESOLUTION NO. 79-4
ESTABLISHING A COUNTYWIDE DISTRICT BOARD OF
HEALTH CONSISTING OF'EIGHT MEMBERS
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County District Board of HealL-h
is organized pursuant to Chapter 70.46 of the Revised
Code of Washington, to consist of eight members consisting
of three councilmen of the City of Bellingham, three
county commissioners, one representative of the other
cities and towns in Whatcom County, and one representative
of the unincorporated rural area of the county;
AND WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Charter has abolished
the office of county commissioner, and established the
Whatcom County Council as the legislative authority of
Whatcom County;
AND WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council intends to
maintain the membership on the Whatcom County District
Board of Health at eight, and desires to be represented
on said board by three members of the County Council to'
be selected by the Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
SECTION 1. The Whatcom County Council confirms the
creation of the Whatcom County District Board of Health
consisting of the entire county including all cities and towns
within Whatcom County, under chapter 70.05 RCW and RC'W 70.46.020
through 70.46.090.
SECTION 2. The Whatcom County District Board of Health
shall consist of eight members, including three members cif
the Whatcom County Council, three members of the Bellingham City
Council, one representative of the cities and towns in Whatcom
County (other than Bel,linyham), as may be. selected by mutual
agreement among the legislative authorities of the cities and
towns concerned), and one person who is a qualified voter of
an unincorporated rural area who is appointed by the legislative
