HomeMy WebLinkAboutres1979-0031 2 3 4' 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 Date: May 10, 1979 Introduced by: Don Hansey RESOLUTION N0. 79 -3 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING FIVE MEMBER WHATCOM COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION; FIXING FIFTY DOLLARS PER DIEM FOR EACH DAY OF ACTUAL ATTENDANCE; AND APPOINTING MEMBERS TO VARIOUS TERMS. WHEREAS, Revised Code of Washington, Section 84.48.010 as amended in 1979, authorized the legislative authority of a county to form a board of equalization for assessment of the property of the county, and provided for fifty dollars per day allowance to each member of the board for each day of actual attendance of the meeting of the board where the legislative authority itself does not constitute the such board; AND WHEREAS, no member of the Council is to be a member of the Whatcom County Board of Equalization; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: SECTION 1. The Whatcom County Board of Equalization is established to consist of five members, none of whom shall be members of the Whatcom County legislative authority. SECTION 2. No more than two members of the Board of Equalization shall be residents of the same Council District. SECTION 3. As authorized by Revised Code of Washington, Section 84.48.010, members of the Board of Equalization are to receive fifty dollars per day for each day of actual attendance of the meeting of the board. SECTION 4. As determined by the May 3, 1.979 meeting of the Council, three of the members appointed to the Board of Equalization are: Gordon McGillivary, to serve a term of one year; Joyce Bauman, to serve a term of two years; and Russell Motschenbacher, to serve a term of three years. Two additional members to serve respectively,.s� and -t6 year terms, shall be appointed before May 17, 1979.
